The Monaco GP was the second race in the first-ever F1 season in 1950. It has been a regular race on the calendar since 1955, except for the 2020 season. It is one of the most prestigious races and is even known as the crown jewel of F1.
The Red Bull team has a significant connection with Monaco. The Austrian constructor won their first-ever podium here, with David Coulthard finishing third in 2006. After the race team principal, Christian Horner, jumped into the Red Bull pool wearing just a cape. This was the start of the Austrian team’s iconic Monaco celebration.

Horner talked about the importance of this complex street track in Monaco to F1. He said, “What Wimbledon is to tennis, Monaco is to F1. It’s been here since the start, the historic nature of the circuit.”
He shared his thoughts on having Monaco on a longer term, “If somebody came up with a circuit layout now. Let’s say you’re completely mad, but of course, you know it’s grown with the sport. It’s been here for, you know, more than 70 years and hopefully another 70 years to come.”

The Austrian constructors won the last two Monaco races, Verstappen in 2021 and Perez in 2022. And the Red Bull duo doesn’t want the historic race to lose its place. Last year’s Monaco winner shared his thoughts on this prestigious race, “I think Monaco is something very special.”
Right after, Sergio went on to say, “I think most especially in terms of atmosphere, in terms of vibe, and it’s pure Formula One.”
