Becky Lynch’s beautiful message as former champion departs
Saraya Bevis, better known by her ring name Paige, has penned an emotional and honest departure letter as she closes the chapter on her WWE career.
After more than a decade with the company, she has decided to embark on a new journey, leaving behind a wrestling legacy.
Becky Lynch has paid tribute to her friend’s career and thanked her for ‘changing the game.’
Bevis has written her farewell on The Players’ Tribune, starting off by telling fans they can call her by her real name now as her time as Paige has officially come to a close.
“I got signed in April of 2011, at 18 years old. I was just a baby from Norwich, England,” she wrote. “And as I’m sitting here now, I’m only a month away from turning 30. That’s crazy, right?
“I’ve been Paige for over 11 years. For my entire adult life, I’ve been with WWE.”
During her WWE career, Bevis held the Divas Championship on two occasions and became the youngest wrestler to win the title. She also became the inaugural winner of the NXT Women’s Championship and is the only woman in history to hold both belts simultaneously.

After moving onto the main roster, Paige struck up a partnership with Lynch and Charlotte Flair, creating the faction Team PCB.
Big Time Becks, who went on to record the longest Raw Women’s Championship reign, has honoured the work Bevis did to help get women’s wrestling to where it is today.
“I met Saraya when she was only 13 years old. Even then you could tell that she was going to be a star,” Lynch wrote on Twitter.

Paige retirement
In 2017, Bevis suffered a neck injury which kept her out of the ring for some time.
She announced she would be retiring from in-ring appearances the following year, but remained involved in non-wrestling roles for WWE.

In her Players’ Tribune letter, the 29-year-old addressed how things changed when she picked up the neck injury.
She described how she felt she went from being one of the company’s “top assets” to “pretty close to the bottom” in a short space of time.
“It was like, almost overnight, so many things changed: Suddenly my neck was f***ed and I couldn’t wrestle,” Bevis wrote.
“I popped a drug test. My sex tape leaked. I got depressed. I started drinking. And I became less of an asset to WWE, and more of a liability, for a long time. I’m sure of it.
“But they never lost faith in me — they never once threw me off to the side. They got me the help I needed when I needed help, and they gave me the time and space I needed when I needed time and space.”
Last month, Bevis announced on Twitter that July 7th would be her final day with WWE.
