Another Young Star Officially Signed with Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers went into draft day a couple of weeks ago with no draft picks, but they came out of it with a few interesting prospects.
One is wing Max Christie, out of Michigan State University.
L.A. traded to acquire the 35th pick in the draft hours before it kicked off, then used the pick to take Christie.
He stands about 6 feet, 6 inches and has a 6-foot-9 wingspan. He is thought to have potential as a 3-and-D wing, although he is somewhat underdeveloped at the moment.
On Friday, he officially signed his first pro contract with the Lakers.

The deal is reportedly a two-year contract, but further details weren’t released.

So far in summer league, Christie has struggled mightily with his shooting, but he has held his own defensively and on the boards, which is a good sign when it comes to his possible viability as a rotation player in the NBA.
Scotty Pippen Jr. has been a mixed bag so far in Summer League
When the Los Angeles Lakers signed guard Scotty Pippen Jr. as an undrafted rookie free agent last month, some fans hoped he would turn into a diamond in the rough.
After all, he is the son of Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen, a do-everything 6-foot-8 forward who was one of the greatest defensive players ever and a six-time NBA champion with the Chicago Bulls.

So far in the NBA Summer League, the younger Pippen hasn’t stood out a ton, but he has shown a glimpse of potential in certain areas of his game.
After Friday’s loss to the Phoenix Suns, it’s clear Pippen needs a lot of work, but he may have an outside shot at someday making a big-league roster.
