Anthony Joshua‘s coach Robert Garcia believes he needs to have a couple of warm-up fights to ‘get his confidence back up’ before facing Deontay Wilder.
The British superstar, 32, has suffered back-to-back defeats to his heavyweight successor Oleksandr Usyk in the space of a year, with the most recent loss taking place last summer in Saudi Arabia on August 20.

It leaves AJ out of the title picture for now but still in line to face some of the biggest names in the division.
But former world champion Garcia believes it’s too early for him to share the ring with the American.
“It would be a great fight because with Anthony Joshua and Wilder, we know it ends by knockout,” he told 210BoxingTV. “Wilder just had one, but I think Anthony Joshua needs two fights, just to get his confidence back up and then they could fight at the end of next year.
“It would be such a great fight because everybody knows it ends by knockout, everybody knows that whoever lands the first punch is going to win by knockout. So they are both going to be training so hard to not get knocked out

“It would probably be the most entertaining fight in the heavyweight division because they are both great names and it would generate a lot of attention. I would love to see that fight, definitely.”
Garcia recently revealed that he still wants to continue working with Joshua but only on the proviso that he moves his training camp to the United States.
“I told Anthony and all his team that, for me, the best way to keep working together is if Anthony comes to train in my gym in California eight weeks before a fight,” he told IZQUIERDAZO. “From six to eight weeks, that’s all I need for a good camp.
