Rafael Nadal is yet to win Paris and ATP Finals, but he can’ never..’ Carlos Moya says ..see complete story

Rafael Nadal has not played singles matches since the fourth-round US Open loss. The 22-time Major winner has been dealing with an abdominal injury since Wimbledon, withdrawing ahead of the semi-final at the All England Club and playing only five matches in the previous three and a half months.

Nadal has been training at home in Mallorca during the last weeks, embracing an indoor court and announcing his comeback at the next week’s Paris Masters. Rafa will play Paris and Turin by the end of the season, hoping for two good results and wishing to challenge Carlos Alcaraz for the year-end no.

1 honor. Nadal’s coach Carlos Moya is confident in Rafa’s chances, understanding he has never won these events but feeling optimistic about this year’s campaign. Rafa is 22-6 in Paris, playing eight times and reaching the final on debut in 2007.

Rafael Nadal will hit the court again next week in Paris.
Nadal took only four games against David Nalbandian and never returned to the title clash, losing four times in the semi-final, including 2019 and 2020. Rafa gave a walkover to Denis Shapovalov three years ago and battled against Alexander Zverev a year later.

The German beat the Spaniard 6-4, 7-5 with three breaks on his tally, prevailing in the crucial moments and leaving Rafa empty-handed. Nadal has played at the ATP Finals ten times, with a mediocre 20-16 score. The Spaniard reached two finals in 2010 and 2013, seeking an elusive trophy but losing the title battles to Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.

Rafa had a massive chance to fight for the title again in 2020, building a massive lead over Daniil Medvedev in the semis before experiencing a 3-6, 7-6, 6-3 defeat. “Rafa is yet to win the Paris Masters or the ATP Finals.

He can still lift trophies there, being close to achieving that a couple of times. Rafa is competitive, and he always wants to go all the way. It’s obviously better for him to play Paris ahead of Turin, as the conditions are similar and he needs matches.

Rafa has not played for seven weeks, and it will be easy to adapt to indoor conditions. It’s not easy for him to play at his best on an indoor court. Still, he did that in the past, and I’m sure he will be able to do it again,” Carlos Moya said.

“Oh my god. You asked me the same question last year, Eric ... okay? Do you get a promotion every year? In your job? No, right? So every year you work is a failure? Yes or no? No. Every year you work, you work towards something, towards a goal — which is to get a promotion, to be able to take care of your family, provide a house for them, or take care of your parents. You work towards a goal — it’s not a failure. It’s steps to success. I don’t want to make it personal. There’s always steps to it. Michael Jordan played 15 years, won six championships. The other nine years was a failure? That’s what you’re telling me. I’m asking you a question, yes or no? Exactly. So why you ask me that question? It’s the wrong question.” The first part of Giannis’ quote came off very defensive, and I get it. This was a crushing loss for the Bucks in a season that carried a weight of expectation. Individually the season ended in crushing fashion. Giannis effectively missed three games of the series with the Heat, returning in Game 4 with a triple double, before posting a monster stat line on Wednesday, but struggling down the stretch in both his shooting, and turnovers — which created too big of a hole for the Bucks to escape from.
