Marin Cilic was straight honest after Croatia’s Davis Cup victory over Spain as he admitted that the outcome could have been much different had Rafael Nadal played the tie. On Wednesday, Croatia defeated Spain 2-0 to advance to the semifinal at the Davis Cup Finals in Malaga.
After Borna Coric defeated Roberto Bautista Agut in the first match of the tie, Cilic edged out Pablo Carreno Busta 5-7 6-3 7-6 (5) to secure the victory for Croatia. Unfortunately for Spain, they were without their best two players – Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz.

Recently, Nadal revealed that at the start of this season he informed Spanish captain Sergi Bruguera that he likely would not be available this year. On the other side, Alcaraz recently picked up an abdominal injury and he was forced to skip the ATP Finals and Davis Cup Finals.
