I see Novak Djokovic as the big favourite’ when it comes to…, says former ace

This year tennis has made big headlines, setting the trend. From the first month of 2022, the sport of the racket was left with enormous spaces due to the unfortunate episode that Novak Djokovic experienced in Australia, the umpteenth victory of Nadal in Paris, or the withdrawals of Serena Williams and Roger Federer.

These events, among others such as Alcaraz’s triumphs at the US Open, led the white sport to be one of the most searched on the internet. That is, tennis dominates on the net. Specifically, Google ranked the trends that dominated this search engine: the most searched events were the war in Ukraine and the death of Queen Elizabeth.

Leaving general culture aside and coming to sports, another classification was set at the most searched sports on Google, with notable surprises. The news, in fact, is that the three most “googled” athletes in the world are three tennis players: Novak Djokovic ranks first; followed by Rafael Nadal; closes Serena Williams.

The first two have once again dominated the season this year, especially in terms of Grand Slam titles: two for the Spaniard; one for the Serb. For the latter, however, one must add the whole Australian issue, which has been the subject of debate for more than two weeks.

The tennis queen, who has decided to retire this season, closes the podium: at the US Open, the last tournament and the last game for the American. Although this classification may be a source of pride for some, as well as a sign of notoriety, for others it is not so much.

Reilly Opelka has also commented on this news. The American is dedicated to both tennis and Twitter, a social network in which he comments on the most relevant news, not only in the tennis field.

Djokovic is still very fresh
Present in Saudi Arabia, Mats Wilander answered questions from our colleagues at Tennis Italiano.

According to the Swede, Novak Djokovic is the big favorite for the Australian Open but there is still a risk. “I see Nole as the big favourite, ahead of Medvedev, who is at his best on the concrete courts, and Nadal, the defending champion.

The only thing that can betray Djokovic is his desire to do too much, to prove, after everything that happened to him in Australia a year ago, that this tournament is his home.” With 9 titles in Melbourne, it is certain that the Serb will be the big favorite for the 2023 edition which begins on January 16.

“Oh my god. You asked me the same question last year, Eric ... okay? Do you get a promotion every year? In your job? No, right? So every year you work is a failure? Yes or no? No. Every year you work, you work towards something, towards a goal — which is to get a promotion, to be able to take care of your family, provide a house for them, or take care of your parents. You work towards a goal — it’s not a failure. It’s steps to success. I don’t want to make it personal. There’s always steps to it. Michael Jordan played 15 years, won six championships. The other nine years was a failure? That’s what you’re telling me. I’m asking you a question, yes or no? Exactly. So why you ask me that question? It’s the wrong question.” The first part of Giannis’ quote came off very defensive, and I get it. This was a crushing loss for the Bucks in a season that carried a weight of expectation. Individually the season ended in crushing fashion. Giannis effectively missed three games of the series with the Heat, returning in Game 4 with a triple double, before posting a monster stat line on Wednesday, but struggling down the stretch in both his shooting, and turnovers — which created too big of a hole for the Bucks to escape from.
