Ja Morant and the harsh sanction he could face:he will be suspended for half a..

There is a chance that the Memphis Grizzlies will be without Ja Morant for the first half of the 2023/24 NBA season through suspension.

There is an element of mystery over just how long his suspension is going to be. Many think it will be a very long one, whilst other reports are playing down the severity of his punishment.

Ja Morant and the harsh sanction he could face:he will be suspended for half a..

Sam Amico at Hoops Wire recently reported that: “league sources have told Hoops Wire they believe Morant will be suspended for no less than the first half of the regular season.”

Nothing has been decided yet and there is unlikely to be any official word until after the NBA finals have finished, with the Miami Heat and the Denver Nuggets currently at 1-1 in their series.

Why is Ja Morant getting suspended?
Morant’s issues stem from being seen holding a gun at a strip club during an Instagram Live video during the 2022/23 season. He was suspended for eight games of that campaign for the incident.

That video surfaced whilst there were also allegations about assaulting a teenager and other incidents.

Having served that eight-game suspension, the Grizzlies hoped that the matter would come to a close. Instead, after the 2022/23 season had ended, he was once again seem on an Instagram Live with a gun in his hand, showing he had not learned his lesson at all.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver discussed Morant ahead of the finals, saying: “We’ve uncovered a fair amount of additional information. We probably could have brought it to a head now, but we’ve made the decision that it would be unfair to these players and these teams to announce that decision in the middle of this series.”

“Oh my god. You asked me the same question last year, Eric ... okay? Do you get a promotion every year? In your job? No, right? So every year you work is a failure? Yes or no? No. Every year you work, you work towards something, towards a goal — which is to get a promotion, to be able to take care of your family, provide a house for them, or take care of your parents. You work towards a goal — it’s not a failure. It’s steps to success. I don’t want to make it personal. There’s always steps to it. Michael Jordan played 15 years, won six championships. The other nine years was a failure? That’s what you’re telling me. I’m asking you a question, yes or no? Exactly. So why you ask me that question? It’s the wrong question.” The first part of Giannis’ quote came off very defensive, and I get it. This was a crushing loss for the Bucks in a season that carried a weight of expectation. Individually the season ended in crushing fashion. Giannis effectively missed three games of the series with the Heat, returning in Game 4 with a triple double, before posting a monster stat line on Wednesday, but struggling down the stretch in both his shooting, and turnovers — which created too big of a hole for the Bucks to escape from.
